Lead Engineer/Project Engineer / System Engineer - Austin, TX Office
Perform design engineering activities as a member of a design team responsible for supervising the development of ruggedized notebook products. Identify key issues and drive their resolution across engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop products, processes, systems or scientific applications using broad engineering concepts and research techniques, or through directing and providing technical consultation to third parties.
- Work independently and with other engineers in the development and improvement of the manufacturing process.
- Document research and design specifications and facilitate transition of product design.
- Collect and analyze data relating to the manufacturing process.
- Work with internal and external users/partners to identify and implement any resultant design and/or process changes.
Skills/Qualifications:
- 7+ years experience in design, tooling and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including long distance communication between China, Taiwan, India and US.
- Demonstrated ability to aggressively drive mechanical designs to completion, including mechanisms.
- Experience verifying performance through empirical testing and iterate the design as needed.
- Ability to identify, quantify and resolve subsystem and system design issues involving multiple people and disciplines.
- Multiplex between projects.
- Work with and coordinate work of technical resources.
- Deal with conflict effectively.
- Make clear and effective presentations to inform and persuade peers and managers.
- Establish clear goals and formulate plans to achieve them.
- Solve problems quickly and creatively in multiple time zones.
- Work independently, and as part of a team.
- Apply risk management skills (understand risk, assess risk qualitatively, and use alternative approaches to mitigate risk).
- Utilize computational and communication tools such as Pro-E and MS Office
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
