Lead Engineer / Electrical Engineer - Austin, TX Office
As a member of a design team, supervise the development of ruggedized notebook products, identify the key issues, and drive their resolution across engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop products, processes, systems or scientific applications using broad engineering concepts and research techniques, or through directing and providing technical consultation to third parties.
- Working independently and with other engineers in the development and improvement of the manufacturing process.
- Document research and design specifications and facilitate transition of product design.
- Collect and analyze data relating to the manufacturing process.
- Work with internal and external users/partners to identify and implement any resultant design and/or process changes.
Skills/Qualifications:
- 7+ years experience in design, tooling and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including long distance communication between China, Taiwan, India and US.
- Ability to aggressively drive electrical designs to completion, including system integration.
- Ability to verify performance through empirical testing and iterate the design as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, quantify and resolve subsystem and system design issues involving multiple people and disciplines.
- Ability to work with and coordinate work of technical resources.
- Effective conflict resolution skills.
- Clear and effective presentation skills to inform and persuade peers and managers.
- Demonstrated experience in establishing clear goals and formulation of plans to achieve them.
- Solid problem solving skills to drive resolution quickly and creatively in multiple time zones.
- Demonstrated risk management skills (understand risk, assess risk qualitatively, and use alternative approaches to mitigate risk).
- Experience using computational and communication tools such as ORCAD Layout; Alegro; Schematic Capture.
- Experience with wireless; board design; layout; schematic development; PC systems design; I/O;LVDS.
- Experience designing for extreme / rugged conditions a plus.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
