Lead Engineer / Electrical Engineer - Austin, TX Office

As a member of a design team, supervise the development of ruggedized notebook products, identify the key issues, and drive their resolution across engineering disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop products, processes, systems or scientific applications using broad engineering concepts and research techniques, or through directing and providing technical consultation to third parties.
  • Working independently and with other engineers in the development and improvement of the manufacturing process.
  • Document research and design specifications and facilitate transition of product design.
  • Collect and analyze data relating to the manufacturing process.
  • Work with internal and external users/partners to identify and implement any resultant design and/or process changes.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience in design, tooling and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including long distance communication between China, Taiwan, India and US.
  • Ability to aggressively drive electrical designs to completion, including system integration.
  • Ability to verify performance through empirical testing and iterate the design as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, quantify and resolve subsystem and system design issues involving multiple people and disciplines.
  • Ability to work with and coordinate work of technical resources.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.  
  • Clear and effective presentation skills to inform and persuade peers and managers.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing clear goals and formulation of plans to achieve them.
  • Solid problem solving skills to drive resolution quickly and creatively in multiple time zones.
  • Demonstrated risk management skills (understand risk, assess risk qualitatively, and use alternative approaches to mitigate risk).
  • Experience using computational and communication tools such as ORCAD Layout; Alegro; Schematic Capture.
  • Experience with wireless; board design; layout; schematic development; PC systems design; I/O;LVDS.
  • Experience designing for extreme / rugged conditions a plus.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
