Overview
The Augmentix Server Availability Management Processor™ (A+SAMP) is a self-contained, independent management card that enhances the availability and manageability of Augmentix A+ Servers and other qualifying server platforms.
Ideal for remotely located servers, the A+SAMP continuously monitors system hardware and software health and allows for remote control of the server.
The A+SAMP operates without assistance from the host processor and is independently powered. It can be programmed to proactively address impending failures so application outages are minimized. No active specialized software is required on the server and power to the server is not required in order to capitalize on the recovery methods the A+SAMP offers. In addition to the integration of the A+SAMP as an option in Augmentix A+ rugged servers, the A+SAMP can also be integrated under an OEM arrangement into alternative approved platforms. Augmentix has deployed over 25,000 A+SAMPs as part of a broader PBX communications system.
Benefits
- A+SAMP provides true “lights out” system management. Even if the server is non-operational (powered off or in “freeze” mode) the A+SAMP remains operational as an independent embedded computer.
- The majority of server system failures are the result of application or OS failures, or operator error. The A+SAMP can be programmed to manage select failure recovery while minimizing IT operator intervention.
- The A+SAMP has been designed and implemented to monitor, report and attempt to recover common faults that occur at the hardware and operating system via a highly-customizable, open system standard.
- The A+SAMP can be programmed to proactively address pre-defined failure modes via a scripted response. Recovery utilities, select operating system or application software can be stored independently on the A+SAMP. All system activities are recorded and reported in the system log.
- If a fault occurs that the A+SAMP is unable to autonomously correct, it can be programmed to alert a remote location. The technician can remotely access and control the server through the A+SAMP to diagnose and correct errors, quickly dispatching a service technician only when hardware replacement or on-site service is required.
- Select A+ Servers also support a secure IP KVM (keyboard, video, mouse and virtual floppy / CD) function that provides the technician with access to monitor or reconfigure the remote server from a central location.
